The state-approved destination of Fürstenberg is high above the River Weser on the edge of the SOLLING-VOGLER National Park in the middle of Weser Uplands right on the German Fairy Tale Route with its pretty Weser Renaissance buildings. There is not another place on the Upper Weser which provides such breathtaking views of the Weser valley. In the immediate vicinity, there is the historical mediaeval town of Höxter with its half-timbered houses, narrow alleys and lively town centre. The nearest castles or the manor of Meinbrexen to the Fürstenberg castle are only a stone’s throw away. The unique Corvey Monastery is on the outskirts of Höxter, and the Weser Renaissance Castle at Bevern is just a few kilometres from Holzminden. You can ride on one of the boats that make up the Flotte Weser towards Corvey or Bad Karlshafen. The quay for the boat is down from the castle (20 minutes by foot from the castle).
