Travel tips

Arrive in style: experience a particularly romantic journey to SCHLOSS FÜRSTENBERG on a steamer from Flotte Weser. You can reach Fürstenberg by scheduled service downstream from Bad Karlshafen, Beverungen or Schloss Wehrden, or upstream from Corvey or Höxter.

More energetic types can travel by canoe. From the steamer and canoe jetties, a footpath leads through the Kathagenberg nature reserve up to SCHLOSS FÜRSTENBERG, or you can call a taxi from Bernd Kucinski. Steamer and canoe jetties are located 80 metres below the castle complex. Turning areas and coach parking are available and signposted.

On foot, you can reach SCHLOSS FÜRSTENBERG with a literary touch on the Raabe hiking trail, which ends in the castle courtyard, a location in the novel Hastenbeck by Wilhelm Raabe. The author Wilhelm Raabe (1831–1910) was born nearby in Eschershausen and spent his childhood there. His novels feature many themes and characters from the Weser Uplands, which you can learn about as you make your way along the trail.
